The Cuesta College baseball team downed Allan Hancock 4-1 on Tuesday.
Andrew Nelson allowed three hits and struck out 10 in the complete-game win for the Cougars, who moved into a tie for first place in the Western State Conference North Division.
Cuesta totaled four hits, including one each from Marco Murillo, Steve Hertling, Parker Hindle and Mac Stuart. Murillo was 1 for 4 with two runs, Hindle was 1 for 1 with an RBI and a run, Hertling added a run scored, and Stuart had an RBI.
The Bulldogs’ Preston Thomas was the only player with multiple hits, going 2 or 3 with an RBI for Hancock (13-15, 5-7 WSC).

The Cougars (13-15, 7-5 WSC) will travel to L.A. Pierce on Thursday before returning to San Luis Obispo to host the Brahmas on Saturday.
Santa Barbara 11, Cuesta 8
The Cougars led 5-0 at the top of the third inning, but gave up the lead in the fourth inning to fall to the Vaqueros in Santa Barbara in the WSC-North contest.
Katie Render led the Cougars’ offense, going 4 for 4 with a home run, two RBI and a stolen base.
Jasmine Singh was 3 for 4 with a home run, three RBI and a stolen base for the Cougars (16-19), and teammate Kryn Masutani was 3 for 4 with a double and two stolen bases.
