The Cuesta College baseball team suffered its second straight shutout to rival Allan Hancock 7-0 on Thursday.
Cougars first baseman Scott Shields hit a two-out double in the first inning off former Nipomo High and current Hancock pitcher Marc Baker.
Baker (3-3) closed out the inning and did not allow another Cuesta hit until third baseman Andrew Montanari singled in the eighth inning. Baker finished up allowing the two hits, four walks and struck out four in 7 2⁄3 innings.
The Bulldogs were led by outfielders Tommy Lining and Marvin Fight. Lininger was 2 for 4 with a solo home run and two runs scored with two RBI. Marvin Fight was 2 for 2 with two runs, two walks and an RBI.

Cuesta sweeps softball twinbill
Jasmine Sing had three doubles, a triple and five RBI for Cuesta College’s softball team as it opened Western State Conference play with a 14-4, 12-1 sweep at Oxnard.
Sing was 4 for 4 in the first game 2 for 4 in the second game.
Cuesta’s Celine Blanco pitched three innings in the first game for the win, and Victoria Roberts was the winning pitcher in the second game.
Summer Pratt was 3 for 4 with a double in the opener, and Courtney Bragg was 3 for 4 with a triple in game two for the Cougars (9-10).
