The Cuesta College softball team dropped a pair of games to Oxnard on Tuesday.
The Cougars (16-20-1, 9-6 Western State Conference) lost the opener 5-0 and were held to two hits by Oxnard starter Michelle Getman.
Rachel Thompson had Cuesta’s lone extra-base hit, a double in the fourth inning.
In the late game, Oxnard (17-13, 9-6) overcame a two-run first inning deficit to beat the Cougars 6-4.
Alex Ramirez doubled and later scored on an Alyssa Giordanengo single to put Cuesta on the board early. Giordanengo, who finished with three hits, added the second run when she scored on a sacrifice fly from Breanan Silzer.
Cuesta baseball team loses to Oxnard
The Cuesta College baseball team committed six errors in a 9-8 loss at Oxnard.
Michael Camporeale was 3 for 4 with two RBI, and T.J. Filicia added two hits for the Cougars (14-14, 5-7 WSC).
Camporeale and Filicia each had a double, as did teammates Ty Muller and Mitchell Prophet.
Cuesta had two leads of two runs fall by the wayside early as Ventura scored five runs after the sixth inning.
