Former Cuesta College athletic director Warren Hansen will be among four people inducted into the California Community College Hall of Fame next week.
The four inductees, who’ll join 91 previous enshrines, will be inducted at a banquet and ceremony at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Doubletree Airport Hotel in Ontario.
Hansen served as the Cougars’ athletic director for 31 years, overseeing the school’s increase from eight sports to 16. He also coached cross country, wrestling and football before becoming the President of the California Community College Athletic Directors Association, as well as the Western State Conference, to which Cuesta belongs.
The three other inductees are (posthumously) Pete Rozelle (who attended Compton College before going on to become commissioner of the NFL), Michael Cooper (Pasadena City College before beginning a storied career with the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers) and Robert Dinaberg (who coached football for 18 years at Santa Barbara City College, and was also an athletic director for 22 years).
