College Roundup: Hamaker, Bardelli spark water polo win for Cuesta over Citrus

Hunter Hamaker and Lawrence Bardelli scored five goals apiece for the Cuesta men’s water polo team in a 13-8 victory over Citrus in Glendora on Thursday.

The Cougars (7-6, 2-0 Western State Conference) took a 9-4 lead into the half on the strength of 18 first- half shots. Cuesta outshot Citrus 31-22, including a match-high nine shots from Bardelli.

Isaiah Haas and Thomas Martin made three saves each for the Cougars, who also got two goals from Evan Norton.

Jesse Johnston and Andrew Gallegos had three goals each for Citrus (4-7, 0-1).

Women’s Water Polo

Citrus 11, Cuesta 7

The Cougars (7-11, 1-1 WSC) got two goals each from Morgan Thompson, Erin Gray and Maggie Evans in their first conference loss of the season in Glendora.

Citrus (7-6, 1-0), which won despite being outshot 27-20, was led by Meghan Turner, who had a match-high four goals.
