Cuesta College runner Kelly Barmann’s time of 18 minutes, 4 seconds was good for second place on the women’s 5K course at the Lou Vas-quez Invitational in San Francisco on Thursday.
Barmann led the Cougars to a fourth-place finish at the invitational behind eventual winner L.A. Trade Tech.
Paige Peterson and Taylor Anderson finished 23rd and 24th, respectively, for Cuesta behind first-place Maritza Hernandez of L.A. Trade Tech.
On the men’s side, Taylor Castañon was the first Cougar to finish the 4-mile course. He finished 10th in 20:38. Teammate Paul Denlinger finished 12th, five seconds behind Castañon.
Daniel Tapia of Hartnell was the winner in 19:47.
The Cuesta men’s team finished eighth of 16 teams.
