Cal Poly baseball team makes five errors in 11-5 loss to UC Davis

The Cal Poly baseball team was done in by a seven-run fifth inning, losing its penultimate game of the season 11-5 to UC Davis on Friday night at Baggett Stadium.

The Mustangs (31-25, 11-12 Big West Conference) made five errors in the loss. Starting pitcher Erich Uelmen (5-3) allowed nine runs in 4 1/3 innings, but only one was earned. He gave up seven hits, issued a walk and struck out four.

Mark Cardinalli, Guillermo Salazar and Cameron Biggs each had two hits and two RBI for UC Davis (17-35, 5-18 Big West), and Brad Pluschkell also had two RBI.

Josh George was 2 for 4 with two RBI and two runs for the Mustangs. Cal Poly had just six hits.

The Mustangs wrap up the season Saturday with the series finale at 1 p.m. at Baggett Stadium.
