Long Beach State finished off a sweep of the Cal Poly baseball team with a 4-1 win Sunday in Long Beach.
Cal Poly (25-17, 7-5 Big West Conference) began the series in first place in the Big West, but now sit in fourth place after its fourth loss in a row.
John Schuknecht had two hits and an RBI for the Mustangs.
Jarred Zill (4-2) allowed four runs on seven hits over 6 1/3 innings. He walked two and struck out five.
Trevor Brown allowed a run in 8 2/3 innings for Long Beach State (26-16, 9-6 Big West).
Cal Poly closes series with loss
The Mustangs lost to UC Davis 1-0 on Sunday, a day after taking the first two games of the series by sweeping a doubleheader.
Sierra Hyland threw a three-hitter Sunday, but Cal Poly (23-21, 6-9 Big West Conference) stranded four baserunners in the loss.
Stephanie Heyward, Amanda Sandoval, Ashley Tornio and Betsy Colburn each had a hit for the Mustangs.
Cal Poly at Big West tournament
The Mustangs were eliminated in the semifinals of the Big West Conference tournament on Saturday.
Cal Poly finished third, winning three matches in the tournament. Hawaii won the title without losing a match.
In an elimination game Saturday, the Mustangs defeated CSUN 3-2. Taylor Nelson and Adlee Van Winden won two sets, and Anna Gorman and Savannah Niemen won two sets.
In the semifinals, Long Beach State won 4-1. Nelson and Van Winden earned the only point by winning their two sets.
