Cal Poly women’s soccer team loses to Cal State Fullerton in home finale

The Cal Poly women’s soccer team closed out the season with a 2-1 loss to Cal State Fullerton on Sunday afternoon at Alex G. Spanos Stadium.

Cassandra Fasi scored a second-half goal for the Mustangs (6-8-5, 2-6-0 Big West Conference), with assists going to Megan Abutin and Robin Mertens.

Rebecca Wilson scored two goals for the Titans (14-3-1, 6-2-0 Big West), which clinched a share of the conference title with the victory.

Cal Poly bid farewell to nine seniors on Senior Day: defenders Jordan Ansara, Allie Bégin, Robin Mertens and Samantha Nerney, midfielder Megan Wagner, forwards Sara Epps and Elise Krieghoff, and goalkeepers Alyssa Giannetti and Heather Rouhier.

Rouhier allowed both goals and had a save for Cal Poly, and Giannetti came on in the 24th minute and made five saves.
