The Cal Poly women’s cross country team won the Big West Conference title at the conference championship in Riverside on Saturday, and the men’s team was second overall.
True freshman Peyton Bilo was second in the 6K, with a time of 20 minutes, 36.87 seconds for the Mustangs. Sara Van Dyke followed, posting a seventh-place finish at 20:59.27, and the Mustangs swept ninth through 11th place behind Katie Izzo (20:59.84), Ashley Windsor (21:00.87) and Mary Jo Wright (21:07.33).
As a team, the Mustangs women finished with 39 points, beating out UC Santa Barbara (59) and third-place UC Davis (69).
UC Irvine’s Faith Makau won individual honors with a time of 20:27.50.

In the men’s race, UC Santa Barbara’s Bryan Guijarro won in 24:01.94 as the Gauchos took first with 31 points. Cal Poly was second at 36, with junior Nick Woolf pacing the Mustangs with a fourth-place finish (24.17.04). Cal Poly’s Garrett Migliozzi was sixth (24:25.50), Devon Grove was seventh (24:27.34), Swarnjit Boyal eighth (24:28.27) and Luis Morales was 11th (24:35.69).
Cal Poly will prepare for the West Region Championships, which will be held at Jefferson Park Golf Course in Seattle on Nov. 13.
