Cal Poly volleyball team sweeps Riverside

The Cal Poly women’s volleyball team beat UC Riverside 25-7, 26-24, 25-19 at Mott Athletics Center in a Big West Conference matchup Saturday.

Cal Poly was led by Adlee Van Winden, who had 18 kills, and Taylor Gruenwald added 12 more.

The Mustangs relied on a .520 hitting percentage in the first set and .487 in the third set to put away UC Irvine (6-14, 1-6 Big West).

Nicole Kessler had 17 digs, and Taylor Nelson registered 39 assists.

Cal Poly (14-4, 6-1) trails only Hawaii in the Big West standings, who boast a 7-0 record.

Cal Poly will travel to face CSUN (4-14, 3-3) on Friday.
