Cal Poly women’s golf falls to fifth at Big West Championships

In the second round of the Big West Conference Championships at the par-72 El Macero Country Club, the Cal Poly women’s golf team dropped two spots Tuesday to fifth place with a total of 608.

The Mustangs saw their top three golfers post a higher score on the second day as Jamie Binns shot a 79, and Jamie Harada and Sophie Bergland shot 81.

Cal Poly’s Madison Hirsch shot a 77 and Desiree Gillaspy shot a 78.

Bergland, Binns and Hirsch are all tied for 14th place at 152 heading into the final day today while Harada is in 26th (155) and Gillaspy is in 30th (157).

UC Davis is in first place at 567 in the team race, and also has the individual leader as Andrea Wong shot a 68 for a two-day total of 139.
