The Cal Poly volleyball team won two of the first three sets, but couldn’t close out Santa Clara in a 21-25, 25-12, 23-25, 25-20, 15-8 loss at Mott Athletics Center on Saturday night that ended the Mustangs’ winning streak at four.
The loss was the first by Cal Poly at home this season.
The Mustangs struggled, hitting .134 to Santa Clara’s .238.
Taylor Nelson led Cal Poly (5-5) with 15 kills, and Taylor Gruenewald added 12 kills. Nelson also had 21 assists and 11 digs. Maddie Kluber had a team-high 22 assists and added 10 digs, and Nicole Kessler had 25 digs.
Nikki Hess had 15 kills, and Kaity Edwards and Sabrina Clayton added 14 apiece for Santa Clara (10-3).
