Cal Poly pitcher Reilly agrees to terms with Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox and Cal Poly right-handed pitcher Reed Reilly have agreed to terms on a minor-league contract, according to The Associated Press.

A report from the Boston Herald said Reilly was one of 11 draft picks to sign with the Red Sox on Monday, and the 6-foot-4, 220-pound closer will enter the farm system.

Details of the agreement have not been announced.

Reilly was chosen with the second-to-last pick of the seventh round (224th overall). According to the MLB’s signing bonus scale, players selected with that pick are slated to receive a bonus of $163,500.

Reilly was reportedly one of just three seventh-round draft picks yet to sign with their team. One of the others is fellow Cal Poly junior Zack Zehner, who was drafted 204th overall by the Toronto Blue Jays but has said he plans on returning to Cal Poly for his senior season.
