The Cal Poly men’s soccer team received eight National Letters of Intent on Wednesday, helping to solidify its defense and goalkeeping.
Incoming recruits Ramiro Molina (San Mateo High), Nick Carroll (Los Gatos High) and David Levitsky (San Jose, Leland High) were all members of De Anza Force Academy club at the U-18 level.
Molina plays wing, and has been a top scorer since his freshman year at San Mateo as well as a member of the Cal North Olympic Development team. Carroll is a defenseman who played for the San Jose Earthquakes U-14 Academy in 2010. Levitsky was captain of the Cal North Olympic Development Program from 2009 to 2011 while playing central defense.
Oscar Jansson (Stockholm, Sweden; Darlington School-Georgia) played midfield for Vasalund IF; one of the highest youth leagues in Sweden before relocating to Georgia in 2012.

Trenton Matson (Walnut Creek, Las Lomas High) and Sam Strong (San Marcos High) are the other defenders in the 2014 class. In addition to soccer, Matson kicked for the Las Lomas football team and was a member of the 4x400 relay team in track. Strong is a central defender and was on the Cal South Olympic Development team.
Both Simon Boehme (The Woodlands, High Texas) and Andrew Klatt (Sonora High) are goalies with decorated high school careers. Boehme led his team to three straight district titles, and Klatt was all-Valley Oak League first team his junior and senior seasons.
Cornea tabbed tennis Big West Athlete of the Week
Jennifer Cornea won three of her four matches this past weekend for the Cal Poly women’s tennis team to earn Big West Conference Athlete of the Week honors.
In Saturday’s Big West opener against Cal State Northridge, Cornea competed with fellow senior Ane McPike to win their doubles match, 8-2. In the top singles spot, Cornea defeated the Matadors’ Criss Rodriguez 6-1, 6-0.
During Sunday’s match against Loyola Marymount, Cornea and McPike lost their doubles match 6-1, but Cornea rallied in singles to win 6-7, 6-4, 10-6.
