Matt Imhof, a left-handed pitcher on the Cal Poly baseball team, was named a Second Team preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball, the school announced Monday.

The junior southpaw from Fremont went 7-3 with a 2.74 ERA last season, and last week was ranked No. 22 in Baseball America’s College Top 100 prospects.

Imhof pitched for the Collegiate National Team over the offseason, appearing in 17 innings and striking out 18.

Cal Poly opens its season at home Feb. 14-16 against Kansas State.

Another accolade for Cal Poly’s Pridham

Mackenzie Pridham, Cal Poly’s outgoing standout soccer player, received his sixth postseason honor Monday, when he was named to TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Team of the Season Second Team.

The Santa Cruz native is Cal Poly’s all-time leading goal scorer with 27 tallies and will be attending the 2014 Major League Soccer combine.
