David Armendariz belted a home run to right field in the fourth inning, but the Cal Poly baseball team dropped its first conference road game of the year with a 4-2 loss to UC Santa Barbara on Friday.
The loss comes after the Mustangs (20-7, 3-1 Big West) completed a three-game sweep of UC Davis, and a nonconference series where the Mustangs took two of three against the Gauchos (15-13, 2-2) just two weeks ago.
Armendariz put the Mustangs ahead 1-0 in the fourth, but the Gauchos answered with one in the bottom of the inning, one in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Jordan Ellis hit a sacrifice fly in the eighth to make it a two-run game, but the Mustangs couldn’t make it any closer down the stretch.
