Cal Poly track athletes put up strong marks at three separate meets

The Cal Poly men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in three meets Friday.

At the Stanford Invitational, Blake Ahrold took second in the men’s 3,000-meter steeple chase with a

personal-best time of 8:55.10, the 11th fastest in Cal Poly history.

Joshua Hines set a personal best in the discus when he placed third with a mark of 159 feet, 10 inches for the Mustangs.

Danielle Bryan took fourth place in the high jump (5-51⁄4) and Rebecca Halvorson was fifth in the javelin (128-8) for Cal Poly’s women.

Oregon’s Jordan Hasay finished third in her women’s 10,000 qualifier with a time of 32:46.58. It was her first career attempt at the 10,000.

Cal Poly at San Francisco State Distance Carnival

Cal Poly freshman Rachel Bush’s fifth-place finish in the 5,000 at 16:55.18 makes her the nation’s 12th fastest in that event, according to a Cal Poly news release.

Cal Poly’s Doug Bettisworth finished second in the men’s 1,500 with a time of 3:30.09, while Ashley Winsor placed sixth in the women’s 1,500 (4:37.80).

Mustang Kara Caskey set a personal-best mark in the discus with a mark of 141-1 and an 11th place finish at the UC San Diego-hosted invitational.
