Cal Poly's Lotito eliminated at NCAA wrestling championships

Cal Poly freshman Devon Lotito, wrestling at 133 pounds, lost his first two matches and was eliminated on the first day of the NCAA wrestling championships Thursday in Des Moines, Iowa.

Lotito lost his first match to Maryland’s Geoffrey Alexander by a 6-4 decision. Alexander had an escape and a takedown in the third period for the win.

In Lotito’s second match, Duke’s Brandon Gambucci won with a 4-3 decision. Gambucci had an escape in the closing seconds of both the first and second periods.

Lotito won the Pac-12 championship at 133 pounds this season and finishes with a 29-9 record.
