Randy Hanson, a former defensive back coach for Cal Poly, appeared in court for a preliminary hearing.
According to police reports, a heavily intoxicated Hanson had been partying in Pismo Beach Aug. 3 when he struck a man in the face with a beer bottle. The alleged victim – who did not know Hanson before that night -- suffered a broken nose, according to police reports.
