Two high school volleyball players sign with Cal Poly

The Cal Poly volleyball team announced Wednesday that it has signed two players to National Letters of Intent.

Taylor Gruenewald of Southlake, Texas, and Krissy Witous of Rancho Santa Fe committed to the Mustangs for the 2013 campaign after successful high school careers.

Gruenewald, a 6-foot-1 middle blocker from Carroll High, was named to the all-Texas honorable mention team as a junior and a senior and was academic all-sate in 2012. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, a math honor society.

Witous, a 6-1 outside hitter from Cathedral Catholic, led her school to a state title in 2009 and 2011 and was named to the California All-State Team and the San Diego Section All-CIF in 2010 and 2011.

Cal Poly men’s golf team signs two 

The Cal Poly men’s golf team announced that it has signed two players to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period, which ended Wednesday.

Justin De Los Santos of Chaminade High in the San Fernando Valley and Court Lewis of Servite in Anaheim, who both qualified for the CIF-Southern Section Individual Championships last spring, have signed with the Mustangs.

De Los Santos placed third in the Mission League finals last spring, and Lewis will captain Servite in his fourth varsity season.
