Cal Poly linebacker Kennith Jackson was named the Big Sky Conference’s co-defensive player of the week Monday for his performance against Idaho State on Saturday.
Jackson intercepted two passes in the first 21⁄2 minutes against the Bengals in the Mustangs’ 70-14 win, with both picks setting up one-play scoring drives.
Jackson, who now has six career interceptions at Cal Poly, also notched seven tackles in the game to raise his season total to 89 and lifting his career mark to 294 career tackles, making him No. 6 on Cal Poly’s all-time list.
Jackson shared the weekly honor for defensive players with Southern Utah safety Tommy Collet Jr. and Montana State defensive lineman Caleb Schreibeis.

Also Monday, the Cal Poly football team moved up to No. 17 in The Sports Network FCS poll.
The Mustangs (8-2, 6-1 Big Sky) were ranked 19th last week. The team advanced its poll position after pounding Idaho State on Saturday.
Cal Poly will face Northern Arizona (8-2, 6-1), ranked No. 15, on Saturday on the road. At least a share of the Big Sky title is at stake in Saturday’s game.
