The New Orleans Saints waived former Cal Poly offensive lineman Scott Winnewisser with an injury settlement Monday.
The former Mustangs walk-on who worked his way to an All-Great West Conference performer, was an undrafted free agent signee of the Saints and earned considerable playing time in New Orleans’s 17-10 preseason win over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.
Winnewisser (6-5, 301) played mostly at tackle but moved to right guard in his senior campaign at Cal Poly and was playing guard for the Saints.

Cal Poly football head coach Tim Walsh, Portland State's all-time winningest coach, will be inducted into the Portland State Athletics Hall of Fame at a ceremony Oct. 5.
Walsh is the longest tenured and winningest football coach in Portland State history, coaching 14 seasons and compiling a 90-68 record while leading the Vikings through the leap from Division II to Division I in the 1990s.
Walsh's teams had 10 winning seasons and he is one of just three Portland State football coaches with career winning records.
