Cal Poly junior outfielder Mitch Haniger earned the Big West player of the week award after boosting his batting average to .345 by hitting 8 for 18 with two doubles and a home run in a four-game weekend sweep of Loyola Marymount.

He posted multiple hits and RBI in three of the four games to help Cal Poly improve to 7-1, enough to put the Mustangs at No. 22 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper national ranking. It is the first time the Mustangs have been ranked since the 2009 season.
