Martens, Yoshitake lead Cal Poly golf teams

The Cal Poly men’s golf team climbed one spot into seventh place and the women’s team slipped one position into a sixth-place tie Monday at the Folino Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton at the Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms Resort.

Grant Martens led the Cal Poly men’s team, which had a team total of 305, after he fired a 76 to tie for 26th in the individual standings. Teammate Bryce Greeley is tied for 29th with a 154 total on the 6,826-yard, par-72 Eisenhower course.

For the Mustangs women, Taylor Yoshitake tied for ninth after a 78 for a 36-hole 154 total on the 6,088-yard, par-71 Zaharias course. The Mustangs were at 632 as a team.

Also scoring for Cal Poly were Asia Adell, who tied for 23rd with a 157 total, and Morgan Thomas, who tied for 29th place with a 159 total.

Long Beach State leads the men’s standing with a team total of 583 and Gonzaga is ahead in the women’s standing with a 604.
