Eight Cal Poly swimmers qualified to compete in 12 separate events at AT&T Winter National Championships that kicked off Thursday, though none advanced to Thursday night’s finals.
Konrad Antoniuk was the first Mustang to compete and finish with a season-best 4 minutes 5.44 seconds in the men’s 400-yard freestyle. Antoniuk will race again Sunday in the men’s 1,500 freestyle.
For the women, junior Angie Haven raced in the first of her four events in the competition, finishing the 200 individual medley in 2:25.83. Haven will compete today in the 100 butterfly and the 100 breaststroke.
In the women’s 50 freestyle, Amy Morales finished in 27.03, just 1.72 seconds off the pace in a close race. She will compete in the 100 backstroke Saturday.

Cuesta women win tournament opener
The Cuesta College women’s basketball team defeated the SLO Stars 80-45 in the first round of the Conoco Phillips Tournament at Cuesta College.
The Cougars advanced to play San Mateo tonight at 7:30 in the second round.
