Junior Jennifer Keddy was named Big West Player of the Year on Tuesday, after helping the Mustangs (12-17) close the Big West Conference volleyball season with a 7-9 conference record.
Keddy led the conference with a 4.06 kill average and ranked third in hitting percentage (.339), third in blocks (1.22) and first in points per set (4.85).
Keddy, along with sophomore Kristina Graven, also earned first-team all-Big West honors. It was the second time both had been selected.
Cal State Northridge’s Casey Hinger was named Big West Freshman of the Year, while Cal State Northridge coach Jeff Stork earned Coach of the Year honors.
Four Mustangs named to all-Great West football first team
A total of 10 Mustangs were named to all-Great West teams, including four who received first-team honors.
Cornerback Asa Jackson made the all-Great West first-team for the fourth consecutive season, along with fullback Jake Romanelli ( a Templeton High graduate), offensive lineman Scott Winnewisser and linebacker Kennith Jackson.
Offensive lineman Art Munoz, quarterback Andre Broadous and running back Mark Rodgers earned second-team honors on the offensive side, while defensive lineman Erich Klemme and Kyle Murphy, and defensive back Greg Francis made the second-team defense.
The Mustangs and North Dakota tied for the final Great West championship with 3-1 records. All of the conference’s teams are going into other football conferences next season. Cal Poly beat North Dakota and lost to UC Davis for its only Great West loss.
Cal Poly finished the season 6-5 with a 41-10 rout of South Alabama on Saturday in its regular-season finale.
Southern Utah quarterback Brad Sorensen was named Offensive Player of the Year, and Southern Utah defensive lineman Tyler Osborne was named Defensive Player of the Year.
North Dakota coach Chris Mussman was named Big West Coach of the Year.
