Sports roundup: Cal Poly soccer player Patrick Sigler named to All-Big West team for fourth season

Cal Poly senior center back Patrick Sigler was named to the all-Big West Conference soccer team Monday, becoming the second Mustangs player to ever earn all-Big West honors four times.

Sigler, of Windsor, leaves Cal Poly as the program’s career leader with 78 starts. Former forward David Zamora was the previous Mustang to be named all-Big West every year of his career.

Also for the Mustangs (6-9-3, 3-6-1), senior left back Wes Feighner, senior forward Kyle Montgomery, senior goalkeeper Patrick McLain, senior midfielder Evan Richter and senior right back Cameron Walters made the all-conference second team.

Sigler, Feighner and Walters helped this year’s team set a program record for the fewest goals allowed (17 in 18 games).

McLain led all Big West goalkeepers this year with a 0.92 goals-against average, and finished his career as Cal Poly’s all-time leader in save percentage (.808).

Ervin earns Big West Conference Player of the Week award

Cal Poly sophomore point guard Jonae Ervin was named the Big West Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Ervin, a Brea native, scored a career-high 33 points in the Mustangs’ season-opening 102-93 loss at Oregon this past weekend. She shot 10 of 13, including 5 of 5 from 3-point range, and also grabbed a career-high six rebounds.
