The Cal Poly volleyball team swept the visiting UC Riverside Highlanders 25-10, 25-21, 25-15 at Mott Gym on Friday night.
Senior Sarah Cawrse led the way for the Mustangs as she tallied 32 assists, seven digs and three kills for the Mustangs in her first start since playing against Santa Clara on Sept. 2.
Jennifer Keddy led Cal Poly with 15 kills, Kristina Graven had eight and Catie Smith had seven for the Mustangs (11-15, 6-7 Big West). Graven and Lauren Law also added 10 digs apiece.
The Cal Poly defense limited Riverside to a .091 hitting percentage in the match and blocked eight shots to the Highlanders’ five. Keddy had six assisted blocks for the Mustangs.

Cal Poly at Bulldog Classic
In addition to battling their opponents, the Mustangs had to battle the rainy weather, which forced an early end to the match in the Bulldog Classic hosted by Fresno State.
The Mustangs were 2-0 in singles and were leading one and trailing the other match when the rain hit. Ana McPike swept 6-1, 6-2 in her first singles match, and Kathryn Webb won 6-1, 6-2. Jocelyn Davis was winning 2-1, and Ireen Kuipers was trailing 2-1.
The two doubles team each split their matches. Alexa Lee and McPike lost 9-8 but came back strong 8-0 to win the second match. Davis and Webb won their first match 8-5 but lost 8-6 in the next one.
Orange Coast 53, Cuesta 50
The Cougars fell to the Pirates on a 3-pointer after leading by as much as eight points in the second half in their season opener.
Katie Sheldon had eight points and 10 rebounds, Anika Bauermeister had 11 points and six rebounds, and Courtney Chadwick had eight points and seven rebounds for Cuesta.
