Kacey Held came off the bench to score her first two goals of the season, and the Cal Poly women’s soccer team took a 2-1 road victory over Pacific on Sunday.
The sophomore forward from Clovis-Buchanan High, who has only four shots on goal this season, scored goals separated by fewer than 5 minutes in the first half. The first one was a corner kick deflected by Leslie Barmann in the 38th minute, and the second was a shot that banked off the left post and in from 15 yards out in the 42nd.
They were the only two shots on goal for the Mustangs (9-8-1, 3-4-0 Big West Conference) in the entire match.
The Tigers (8-7-1, 2-3-1 Big West) cut the lead in half with a header from Brittni Beeman on a corner kick by Angelica Figueroa in the 65th minute.
Pacific took seven shots in the final 25 minutes, but Cal Poly senior goalkeeper Brooke Gauvin stopped all three shots on goal to preserve the victory. Gauvin finished with six saves.
