The Cal Poly softball team lost two Big West Conference games to Long Beach State on Friday at Bob Janssen Field, falling 3-2 and 7-1.
In the first game, the Mustangs (6-31, 2-9) had seven hits but lost. Long Beach State held the upper hand coming out of the first inning after Sarah Carasso hit an RBI double down the left-field line.
The Mustangs came back to tie it in the second when Kim Westlund drew a bases-loaded walk. The Mustangs added another run in the fourth, after Nora Sobczak hit a single to center to score Rebecca Patton. But Long Beach State scored runs in the fifth and seventh innings for the win.
In the second game, the Mustangs gave up 13 hits and lost.
The Mustangs held the 49ers scoreless for four innings, before giving up four runs in the fifth. Long Beach State added two runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh to hand Cal Poly its eighth straight loss.
