Cal Poly men, women win tennis matches

The Cal Poly men’s tennis team took out UNLV in a non-conference road match Sunday while the Mustangs women took care of business at home.

The men swept in doubles and won four singles matches to take a 5-2 victory over the Rebels.

Arroyo Grande native Andre Dome teamed with Alex Sonesson for an 8-3 win in doubles, and Dome topped Mehdi Bouras 7-6, 5-7, 10-5 at the No. 1 singles spot.

The women dropped just four total sets in their 6-1 Big West Conference-opening victory over Cal State Northridge at Mustang Courts.

After dropping an 8-7 (7-5) doubles set with partner Amy Markhoff, Cal Poly sophomore Alexa Lee rebounded to down the Matadors’ Brooke Doane, 6-0, 3-6, 6-2 at the No. 1 singles spot. The Mustangs suffered their lone singles defeat at No. 2.
