University of Washington assistant track and field coach Kelly Strong has been hired to be an assistant at Cal Poly, the school announced Friday.
Strong will join a staff directed by Mustangs head coach Mark Conover, who assumed the top job after a largely successful run coaching Cal Poly’s cross country program.
“Her ability in recruiting, aiding in daily operations of a program, along with her skill in helping the student-athlete find success have all been proven,” Conover said of Strong in a news release.
Strong had been an assistant at Washington for the past nine years, helping to guide the Huskies women’s squad to the 2008 national title in cross country.
During the past two seasons, Washington captured a pair of Pac-10 Conference championships and had four Olympic Trial qualifiers.
