Cal Poly's Cahn shuts out UCSB

Sara Kryza’s three-run homer in the fifth inning sparked Cal Poly’s softball team to a 5-0 road victory to finish off a sweep of UC Santa Barbara on Sunday.

Anna Cahn threw a four-hit shutout, striking out one without issuing a walk for the Mustangs (15-17, 4-2 Big West Conference).

Kryza’s homer came with two outs off losing pitcher Lindsey Correa, giving the Mustangs a 4-0 lead.

The Gauchos fell to 9-28, 0-6 in the Big West.

MEN’S TENNISCal Poly 6, UC Riverside 1The Mustangs clinched the No. 1 seed in the Big West Conference Tournament with the win.

Cal Poly (7-12, 4-1 Big West) won five of six singles for the second match in a row and swept the doubles.

“I’m really proud of the guys,” head coach Justin McGrath said in a release. “This puts us in a good position going into the conference tournament.”

The Big West tournament begins April 28 at Indian Wells.

John Park got the only win for UC Riverside (3-14, 0-3).
