The Cal Poly men’s tennis team lost a Big West Conference match against Pacific on Monday, 4-3, thanks to the Tigers earning the doubles point at Mustang Courts.
In the No. 1 doubles spot, Rob Foy and Matt Fawcett picked up an 8-3 win for the Mustangs, but the next two tandems fell 8-5 and 8-6, respectively.
“We certainly played well enough to win the match today,” Cal Poly head coach Justin McGrath said in a statement. “We put ourselves in position to win again. It just came down to the doubles point and some key positions in the top of our singles lineup.”
In singles, Cal Poly (1-8, 1-1 Big West) got wins from Alex Sonesson, 6-3, 6-3 over Renan Delsin; Brian McPhee, 6-2, 6-0 over Karl-Erik Paaro; and Foy, 6-0, 6-4 over Vegerd Veskimagi.

WOMEN’S GOLFCal Poly was in 11th after 36 holes of play at the Fresno State-hosted Lexus Classic at the par-72 course at Copper River Country Club.
The Mustangs’ Maddy Fletcher shot rounds of 74 and 75 to tie for 15th place with a five-over-par 149 total. Cal Poly has Stephanie Yocum tied in 31st (at 154) and Kirsten Locke tied in 37th (155).
UC Davis is in front as a team with a four-person 582 total.
