Cal Poly swimming teams sweep Cal State Northridge

Both the Cal Poly men’s and women’s swimming teams defeated Cal State Northridge in a Big West dual meet Friday afternoon in Matador Pool.

The women’s team won every event en route to a 161-88 victory. Three Cal Poly women won multiple events.

Angie Haven captured the 200 individual medley in 2 minutes, 10.04 seconds as well as the 100 butterfly in 57.87 and the 50 freestyle in 24.65.

Kylie France claimed the 200 butterfly (2:08.38) and 200 breaststroke (2:23.30), while Lacey Buck won the 1,000 freestyle (10:34.06) and 500 freestyle (5:06.47).

Led by Chase Nick and Peter Kline, the men’s team won 13 of 16 events in a 145-94 victory.

Kline won the 200 butterfly (1:55.77), 100 freestyle (47.61) and the 200 individual medley (1:59.12) while Nick claimed the 100 backstroke (53.07) and 200 backstroke (1:57.87).

Including relays, Cal Poly won 29 of 32 total events.

The Mustangs will next compete in the USA Swimming Grand Prix today through Monday at Belmont Plaza in Long Beach.
