College Football: Cal Poly assistant is moving on

The University of Louisiana Monroe football program hired Cal Poly defensive backs coach Adam Waugh to be its safeties coach on Sunday, the school announced.

Warhawks head coach Todd Berry is assembling a staff after being hired Wednesday.

Waugh, who played for Berry at Illinois State, spent one season with Cal Poly, coming on board with new head coach Tim Walsh.Waugh started every game of his college career and finished his career with 320 tackles to rank eighth in school history.

Waugh began his coaching career at Pittsburgh as a graduate assistant, and then spent six years as a defensive assistant at Army before being hired by Walsh at Cal Poly in March.

The Mustangs finished 119th in the Football Championship Subdivision in pass defense this past season, giving up 264.3 yards per game through the air.
