Cal Poly softball coach Jenny Condon has announced the signing of the largest National Letter of Intent signing class during her six-year tenure.
Included in that class is St. Joseph High senior outfielder Mariah Cochiolo.
Other signees are outfielder Jillian Andersen (Mitty High/San Jose), catcher Shelby Asbury (St. Patrick-St. Vincent High/Vallejo), outfielder Camille Brown (Immaculate Heart High/ Venice), second baseman Ashley Romano (Mt. Carmel High/San Diego), infielder Madi Vogelsang (West Ranch High/Valencia), first baseman Jen Walker (Irvine High/Irvine) and infielder Kim Westlund (Freedom High/Brentwood).
The Mustangs are coming off their second Big West title in the past three seasons and last season won a postseason game for the first time at the Division I level.
“We’re excited about our 2010 recruiting class, which is an extremely talented and athletic group,” Condon said. “Offensively, we’ve recruited both power and speed and, defensively, this group is very versatile. I think several of them will compete for starting positions immediately.”
