College Roundup: Cal Poly volleyball loses home match in five sets to UC Davis

The Cal Poly volleyball team dropped a 19-25, 27-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-12 Big West Conference decision to UC Davis on Friday in Mott Gym.

Mustangs middle blocker Dominique Olowolafe had 11 kills with a .524 hitting percentage.

Freshman outside hitter Megan McConnell had a team-high 18 kills and 19 digs for the Mustangs (6-14, 2-5 Big West), who also got a match-high 55 assists from freshman setter Anuhea Keanini.

The Aggies (14-7, 5-2) were led by Allison Whitson’s match-high 20 kills.

Ventura 3, Cuesta 2

Mackenzie Sullivan led Cuesta with 18 kills, but the Cougars lost 21-25, 25-21, 25-17, 22-25, 15-12.

Kayla Cribbs followed Sullivan with 11 kills.

“This was our first conference match,” Cuesta coach Roche Nystrom. “We’re playing well, and we finally have a healthy team, but we just can’t seem to finish a match the way we want to finish it.”


Cuesta 9, San Joaquin Delta 4; Cuesta 13, Santa Rosa 12, OT

Karl Weit led Cuesta (14-10, 2-1 WSC) with three goals against San Joaquin Delta, and Lawrence Bardelli had two goals. Isiah Hass had 11 saves.

Bardelli scored seven goals, in the sudden-death victory over Santa Rosa.

Tommy Martin made 10 saves for Cuesta.

Caitlin Johnson scored with five minutes remaining to give Cuesta (2-7-3) the tie. No other information was provided.
