The Cal Poly women’s soccer team lost 2-1 to CSUN on Sunday afternoon.
The Matadors got out to an early lead, when Kourtney Kutscher scored off a cross from Lyndsey Preston in the 14th minute. Just over a minute later, CSUN struck again when Kutscher assisted a goal by Cynthia Sanchez.
The Mustangs were able to make things close in the 31st minute, as senior Allie Bégin scored on a header off a corner kick from junior Megan Abutin. The assist gives Abutin 20 since 2013, which ties her for second-most in Cal Poly history with Shana Stickel. Kolleen Kassis holds the record with 24, which she had from 1992-95.
Cal Poly will travel to play UC Santa Barbara on Thursday. The Mustangs are 5-5 overall, and 1-3-0 in the Big West Conference.
