Cal Poly junior tennis player Ben Donovan was eliminated from the ITA All-American Singles Championship tournament Wednesday afternoon in Tulsa, Okla.
He was defeated by No. 70-ranked Joao Monteiro of Virginia Tech in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, during the third round of the singles draw at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Donovan also teamed with Mustangs junior Corey Pang in doubles, where the duo won two matches before being eliminated Wednesday by North Carolina’s Jack Murray and Ronnie Schneider in a tiebreaker, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (5).
Cal Poly will be back in action when the Mustangs travel to the ITA Regional Championships in Malibu on Oct. 15.
