Cal Poly volleyball team stops Long Beach State's Big West win streak

The Cal Poly volleyball team ended Long Beach State’s 23-match unbeaten run in Big West Conference play with a 25-17, 20-25, 25-23, 25-15, on Friday night at Mott Athletics Center.

Adlee Van Winden had a career-high 21 kills for Cal Poly (9-4, 1-1 Big West). Taylor Gruenewald had 14 kills, and Taylor Nelson had 50 assists and 20 digs for the Mustangs, who hit .253 in the victory.

The 49ers (12-4, 2-1) had not lost a conference match since Nov. 9, 2013. The last time Cal Poly had beaten Long Beach State was Sept. 28, 2013.

Nele Barber had 12 kills, and Jenelle Hudson had 40 digs for the 49ers, who here held to .179 hitting during the match.

Cal Poly hosts CSUN (3-0 Big West) on Saturday.
