Former Cal Poly goaltender Alyssa Giannetti, who finished her career with the Mustangs in 2015, was named the Toppserien Goalkeeper of the Year by the Norwegian Football Federation on Saturday.

During her rookie season with Arna-Bjornar FC, Giannetti started all 22  matches, earning her seventh shutout of the year agaisnt Roa IL on a scoreless draw to close out the season.

The other two finalists for the award were Ingrid Hjelmseth of Stabaek JF and Madalyn Schiffel from Avaldsnes IL.

Arna-Bjornar closed out the regular season with 7-11-4 record and 1.70 goals against average.

In her second season as co-captain for the Mustangs in 2015, Giannetti earned two Big West Defensive Player of the Week awards, alongside tournament accolades at Virginia’s Nike Soccer Classic and a No. 3 ranking for best senior goalkeeper in the country by Everybody Soccer.

Giannetti holds program records for 76 career starts and 380 saves while playing 7,029 minutes and becoming the first Mustang goalkeeper to assist on a goal in 10 years.
