The San Luis Obispo Blues split a summer collegiate baseball doubleheader on the road Saturday, defeating the Conejo Oaks 3-0 in the opener before losing the second game 7-2.
In the opener, Arkansas teammates Cannon Chadwick and Kyle Pate combined on the shutout for the Blues (18-6, 6-5 California Collegiate League) in the seven-inning game.
Tanner Gardner gave the Blues a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning when he hit a sacrifice fly to score Nick King. Gardner added another sacrifice fly in the seventh inning to score Ryan Sluder, and Nick scored when Kramer Ferrell's fly ball was dropped in the outfield.
King had two of the Blues' seven hits.

In the nightcap, San Luis Obispo was held scoreless in the first six innings of the nine-inning game.
The Oaks (12-7, 6-6) scored three runs in the third inning, and added three more in the seventh and one in the eighth after the Blues scored their first run in the top of the seventh.
San Luis Obispo got on the scoreboard when John Schuknecht singled and later scored on a Brett Barbier double. In the ninth, Schuknecht walked and later scored on a Brett Langhorne groundout.
The Blues are now off until a 6 p.m. Tuesday home game against the California Expos.
