The Southern California Catch scored six runs in the second inning Wednesday and went on to a 9-2 California Collegiate League win over the San Luis Obispo Blues at SLO Stadium, ending the Blues' seven-game winning streak.
The only runs for the Blues (15-5, 3-4) came in the fifth inning when Garrett Giovannelli and Brett Barbier hit back-to-back doubles for the first run. The second run came two batters later on a error by the Catch (11-12, 6-6) shortstop.
SLO starter Brendan Nail took the loss as he didn't make it out of the second inning. He had his scoreless innings streak snapped at 14 1/3 in losing for the first time this year.
The same two teams play again Thursday night at 6 p.m. in the second game of the three-game set.
