SLO Blues never trail in win over Santa Paula Halos

Dustin Williams drove in three runs, including a fifth-inning solo home run Wednesday night, as the San Luis Obispo Blues downed the Santa Paula Halos 6-2 in a summer collegiate baseball game at SLO Stadium.

Williams had a two-run single in the first inning for the Blues (10-4, 2-3 California Collegiate League) and added the solo home run in the fifth.

San Luis Obispo then tacked on three more runs in the eighth to put the game away, highlighted by a Tanner Gardner RBI single in the inning. Gardner, who was 6 for 6 in a rout of the Santa Maria Packers on Tuesday, has eight hits in his past 10 at-bats.

Brendan Nail pitched six scoreless innings to get the win for San Luis Obispo. He allowed three hits and struck out three.

Nick King was 3 for 4 for the Blues and has reached based in 11 straight games.

San Luis Obispo hosts the Long Beach Legends on Thursday in a nonleague game.
