The Cal Poly baseball team earned its third victory of the season with an 11-3 rout of Pacific on Friday.
The Mustangs trailed 3-2 entering the seventh inning but scored nine runs in the seventh and ninth to pull away.
Zach Zehner went 3 for 3 with a double and a triple and had four RBI, and Peter Van Gansen went 3 for 5 with a double, two runs and three RBI to lead the Mustangs (3-7).
Danny Zandona earned the win, pitching 2 1⁄3 innings in relief, and struck out five.
Mustangs tennis falls to Lions
The Cal Poly men’s tennis team fell to Loyola Marymount 4-3.
Ben Donovan and Corey Pang were the only doubles team to win, with a 6-3 victory to improve to 7-1 on the season.
Donovan also won his singles match 6-3, 6-3 for the Mustangs (8-5). Garrett Auproux won 7-6, 5-7, 6-3, and Pang won 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (7) in singles.
Gruetzmacher leads Cuesta swimmers
At the Cuesta Swim and Dive Invitational, Cougars All-American Rachel Gruetzmacher won the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 53.89 seconds and the 50 butterfly (27.29).
Cuesta’s Molly Casey placed second in the 200 backstroke.
In the men’s races, All-American Calvin Gonder earned a fourth place finish in the 1,650-freestyle (17:38.83).
