Summer Collegiate Baseball Roundup: Zehner, Blues walk off with 4-3 win

Cal Poly’s Zack Zehner singled home Jeff Moberg with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to help the San Luis Obispo Blues summer collegiate baseball team to a 4-3, walk-off win Sunday to complete a series sweep of the visiting Pacific Union Capitalists.

Zehner was 3 for 5 with a run and an RBI for San Luis Obispo, which improved to 19-7.

Taylor Anderson went 3 for 4 with a double, and Austin O’Brien was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI for the Blues.

Locals, Cal Poly recruits key North County win

Cal Poly baseball recruit Austin Kron went 2 for 3 with a home run, three RBI and scored twice to power the North County Indians to an 11-3 rout of the visiting Fairfield Indians on Sunday in a summer collegiate game.

Sinjin Todd (3 for 3, two runs), Christian Priore (two runs) and Mac Stuart (2 for 3) drove in two runs each for North County, which scored nine runs in the fourth inning while upping its record to 13-6.

North County starter Austin Dondaville was the winning pitcher. The Cal Poly recruit went five innings, allowing one run on four hits and one walk with seven strikeouts.

Cal Poly’s Mathias shines again for Team USA

Cal Poly’s Mark Mathias singled, drew two walks and scored twice Sunday night, but his USA Baseball Collegiate National Team suffered a 7-5 loss to the Peninsula Pilots of the Coastal Plain League in a Red, White and Blue Tour game in Hampton, Va.
