The San Luis Obispo Blues blew a two-run lead entering the ninth inning, but scored on two bases-loaded walks in the ninth inning Saturday to down the Menlo Park Legends 9-8 at SLO Stadium.
The Blues (15-6, 10-5 California Collegiate League) fell into an early 5-0 hole but gradually came back and led 7-5 in the bottom of the eighth when Cal Poly’s Zack Zehner stole home. However, two Blues relievers were undone by walks in the top of the ninth as the Legends (4-11, 3-7) scored three runs for an 8-7 lead.
Zehner had two hits for San Luis Obispo, and Jacob Hoyle had two doubles and two RBI.
North County routs California Wahoos
Davey Casciola went 2 for 4 with three runs and two RBI, and Mac Stuart and Andrew Garretson both had two hits in leading the North County Indians to a 9-0 summer collegiate baseball home victory over the California Wahoos.
Three North County (7-4) pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout and struck out 10 Wahoos. James Kannenberg pitched the first five innings and struck out five to earn the win.
Ben Polshuk drove in two runs for North County, which led 5-0 after three innings and added one run in the sixth and three in the seventh.
