College track athletes fall short of reaching NCAA finals

Cal Poly’s Sean Davidson finished 15th in the men’s 10,000 meters, running in 29 minutes, 43.73 seconds at the NCAA West Regional in Fayetteville, Ark., on Thursday.

Davidson missed qualifying for the NCAA championships by three seconds, and teammate Chris Frias placed 30th (30:40.75).

Jamison Jordan placed 33rd (10.64 seconds) in the men’s prelims of the 100, and Ashley Windsor finished 32nd (2:10.14) in the women’s 800 prelims.

Former Cuesta College standout and current Arizona State Sun Devil Derick Hinch finished 15th in the men’s pole vault, clearing 16 feet, 91⁄4 inches. Hinch placed third at the NCAA championships in 2012, but has failed to advance past the regional meet the past two years.

San Luis Obispo High alumni Abrianna Torres (Colorado) finished 36th in the women’s long jump (18-7), and Christine Hoffmann (UC Davis) finished 23rd (35:15.04) in the women’s 10,000.

Templeton High graduate Savannah Camacho, one of the nation’s top 800 runners for Oklahoma State, did not start her 800 prelim race.
